Before filing a claim, we recommend that you call our agency first so we can go over the pro’s/con’s and any other critical information before you make a decision on if you want to file the claim or not. As many are unaware, filing an unnecessary claim, or a claim that may not make sense financially could affect your rates in the future, even if nothing was paid out, so we like to walk our customers through the process so they have all questions answered beforehand.
Most of the companies Ostrowski Insurance Agency partner with to provide you with the best possible insurance coverage’s have 24-hour claims service via an 800 number. This means you can start your claims process immediately and at any time of the day or night.
If you need to file a claim:
- Have your policy information in front of you. This includes the name of the company through which coverage is provided and the policy number. This information can be found on your ID card as well as the declaration (front) page of your insurance policy.
- Be prepared to supply the date of the loss and, possibly, a brief explanation of what happened. If this is an auto claim, make sure you get the other parties contact and insurance information, and always try to get a police report at the scene.
- Understand that you may receive a call back from the insurance company’s claim department in order to answer further questions and sometimes it can take 24-48 hours.
